BMW X1 - Chat Hits Internet

2010 BMW X1 Photo

The chat boards have started with talk on a new member of the BMW X Series

Auto Bild magazine looks like the first to break the news.  You can see from their magazine cover an image that they claim is an X1 Concept Car.  You can visit their website at:

http://www.autobild.de/index.html

The chat board discussions have been that the X1 will use the gas and diesel power plants from the BMW 1 Series car and strap that on a modified X3 frame.   As we get additional information on X1 chat, we will post it but nothing is official until we get a press release from BMW.  Most likely it will appear as an X1 Concept Car before it is deemed a production model.  Make sure you signup for our X Family Newsletter for the latest news on the X1, X3, X5 and X6.

2008 BMW X5 - M Package

There is some talk that BMW will be offering an "M" upgrade package for the 2008 BMW X5.  You know that there is an M upgrade package for other BMW vehicles like the powerful M5 package.  Now that is a great upgrade to the standard  5-series models.

2008 BMW X5 M Package

The talk is that the M package for the 2008 BMW X5 may be just window dressing.  The talk from the Car Scoop blog says:

"See, basically, what BMW calls an M Sport Pack in the X5 is body colored moldings and smoked light-clusters combined with 19-inch or 20-inch rims. Of course you also get a pack of other goodies like M leather steering wheel & gear knob, aluminum accents and sport seats inside as well as a sport suspension set up, but what’s an M Sport Package if it looks like you took it over to Joey’s place and painted it?"

We'll have to see what comes out from BMW USA as the official word on the 2008 X5 M package.  The ordering instructions should be released by the end of September.

2008 BMW X5 Customer Requested Features

In this section we will display consumer comments and feature suggestions for the next release of the X5, now that the 2008 X5 features are locked down.  We encourage new owners of the 2008 X5 to send in their comments and let us know what you think of the '08 model.

Here are the very latest comments that have been sent to the editor.  For a full list go to the Suggestion Box

Albert From Houston Texas writes: "What do I want to see in the 2008 X5?

  • Include the Spare-tire with the third row seat.

  • Replace the N52 engine in the 3.0 si with the N54 engine. The N52 engine is too weak for a vehicle this size.

  • Increase the cushion size of the third row seat.

  • Combine the sports and the M-Package.

  • Improve on the electronics control- it ridiculous to find a three week old car having problems with the A/C vent control.

Daniel Infusino from Wisconsin writes: "I’m currently holding off ordering an X5 until I see what the 2008 has in options. A few of the major items I find missing from the 2007 are:

  • Power tail gate.

  • Night vision (currently offered on the 5&7 series)

  • “Birds-eye” view navigation

  • Active seat availability on the passenger side.

Look forward to seeing the details on the 2008 when they are released.

Keith Norman from Bowling Green, Kentucky would like to see backlit reading lamp button on the 2008 X5 since he finds it difficult to find them at night.  He also would like to see an upgraded backup camera which he feels is dark and poor visual quality. (July 2007)

Tim Fishback from Palm Springs, California wrote to say that he agreed with Keith Norman and wanted to add that the plastic handles on the door where too cheap and should be upgraded. (July 2007)
